Lipedema is a little-known disease that affects more than 300 million people worldwide. One in 9 women suffers from lipedema. Lipedema is characterized by the disproportionate accumulation of fat in the legs and sometimes also in the arms. This accumulation of fat is progressive and in the final stages it ends in what is known as lipolymphedema. Lipedema is a serious disease with serious complications. The increase in the volume of fat in the legs together with fibrosis can block lymphatic flow, producing lipolymphedema, an even more disabling disease that is very difficult to treat. Other complications of lipedema are osteoarthritis, pain, hypersensitivity and perhaps most importantly, the affectation of well-being, the affectation of self-esteem and the misunderstanding with which this disease is experienced.

El Dr. Rubí ha colaborado en programas de cirugía humanitaria pediátrica para el tratamiento de malformaciones congénitas en organizaciones tan prestigiosas como Smile Train.
El Dr. Carlos Rubí dirige actualmente la Unidad de Cirugía Plástica, Estética y Reparadora del Hospital Quirónsalud Palmaplanas, habiéndose convertido en el servicio de cirugía plástica de referencia en la sanidad privada en Baleares. Durante su período de formación en Pamplona se especializó en varias áreas quirúrgicas como son la cirugía de mama –tanto reconstructiva como estética–, las reconstrucciones de cabeza y de cuello, las reconstrucciones postraumáticas o tras resecciones oncológicas, la reconstrucción de párpados, la otoplastia, la rinoplastia y la cirugía de la mano.
Completó su formación con estancias en centros destacados tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, profundizando en áreas como la cirugía mamaria en el Hospital Oncológico de Hunan, en China; la cirugía de la mano en la Clínica Cavadas de Valencia; la cirugía estética en el Centro Médico Teknon y en el Hospital Quirónsalud de Barcelona; la cirugía en quemados en el Hospital La Fé de Valencia y la cirugía maxilofacial en el Hospital La Paz de Madrid.
Obtuvo en 2017 el Premio Accésit al Mejor Póster otorgado por la Sociedad Española de Cirugía Plástica, Reparadora y Estética (SECPRE), de la cual es miembro; y ha sido ponente en múltiples congresos de dicha sociedad.
Durante su período de formación acumuló estancias en centros nacionales e internacionales de reconocido prestigio, como la Clínica IM de Barcelona –donde se formó en cirugía transgénero–, el Hospital Materno-Infantil Nêcker de París –subespecializándose en malformaciones congénitas faciales–, el Amrita Hospital of Medical Sciences de Kerala, India –con especialización en plexo braquial– y en la Clínica de la Mano de Buenos Aires, –con especialización en cirugía de mano y miembro superior–.
La Dra. Bendito es miembro activo de la Sociedad Española de Cirugía Plástica, Estética y Reparadora (SECPRE), para la que ha realizado múltiples ponencias durante sus años de formación como residente.

La Dra. Elena Leache trabajó como especialista en la Unidad de Cirugía Plástica Pediátrica y Quemados Infantil en el Hospital Universitario Miguel Servet. Actualmente trabaja como facultativa especialista de área en Cirugía Plástica, Reparadora y Estética en el Complejo Hospitalario de Navarra y colabora en la Unidad de Cirugía Plástica, Estética y Reparadora del Hospital Quirónsalud Palmaplanas.
Es miembro de la Sociedad Española de Cirugía Plástica, Reparadora y Estética (SECPRE), de la Sociedad Vasco Navarra Riojana Aragonesa (SVNRA) y de la Federación Íbero Latinoamericana de Cirugía Plástica (FILACP).
